You have heard that Kenya now has a NCLEX Exam center and you are wondering how to apply? Here is a guide for you:

The National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) is a licensure examination administered by National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). The NCLEX exam is for licensing nurses to legally practice nursing in the US, Canada, and other countries. Foreign-educated nurses, like Kenyan nurses, who wish to practice in those countries must take the exam.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to apply for the NCLEX Exam in Kenya if you’re a registered nurse located in Kenya.

1. Determine Eligibility:

The first step in applying for the NCLEX is to determine if you are eligible to the state you want to apply. You must have graduated from an approved nursing program and have a valid nursing license in your country of education.

2. Credential Evaluation:

Nurses in Kenya must have their document verified by the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) before they can apply to the board of nursing. Credential evaluation is a requirement for certain states in US.

3. Apply with the Board of Nursing:

The next step is to submit an application, corresponding fees, and requirements to the State Nursing Board (Select Nursing Board for your Select State).

5. Schedule the Exam:

The official results of the NCLEX Exam done in Kenya are only available through the candidate’s state board of nursing. Applicants receive the official test result are released six weeks after completing the exam. Applicants may access the unofficial results in two business days by purchasing the Quick Result Service. Unofficial results from Quick Result Service do not authorize you to practice as a licensed registered or practical nurse.

8. Get your license or apply for a license application:

Not all Nursing Boards will grant you a license after you pass the NCLEX exam. Some states will ask you to complete a license application before they issue you a license.
